Stainless Steel - 2205 (UNS S31803) |
|
Duplex
These are stainless steels containing relatively high chromium (between
18 and 28%) and moderate amounts of nickel (between 4.5 and 8%).
The nickel content is insufficient to generate a fully austenitic
structure and the resulting combination of ferritic and austenitic
structures is called duplex. Most duplex steels contain molybdenum
in a range of 2.5 - 4%.
Benefits
* high resistance to stress corrosion cracking
* increased resistance to chloride ion attack
* higher tensile and yield strength than austenitic or ferrite steels
* good weldability and formability
Common uses
* marine applications, particularly at slightly elevated temperatures
* desalination plant
* heat exchangers
* petrochemical plant |

| Super
Duplex Stainless Steel - 2507 (UNS S32570) |
| Super Duplex
Super Duplex 2507 Stainless Steel is composed of between 24 and
26 percent Chromium, 6 to 8 percent Nickel, 3 to 5 percent Molybdenum,
and 1.2 percent Manganese, with the balance being Iron. Also found
in Super Duplex 2507 Stainless Steel are trace amounts of Carbon,
Phosphorus, Sulfur, Silicon, Nitrogen and Copper.
Benefits
* good weldability and workability
* a high level of thermal conductivity
* high resistance to corrosion fatigue
* stress corrosion cracking (especially chloride stress corrosion
cracking) and erosion
* a low coefficient of thermal expansion
* higher heat conductivity and low thermal expansion compared to austenitic
stainless steels
* high energy absorption, high strength, good resistance to sulfide
stress corrosion and high resistance to pitting
and crevice corrosion
Common uses
* oil and gas production,
* chemical,
* pulp and paper,
* marine, power, petrochemical, and water desalinization. |

| 6%
Moly (SMO/6MO) UNS S31254 |
6% Moly
With its high levels of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, 6
Moly alloys have excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals
and are especially suited for high chloride environments such
as brackish water, seawater, pulp mill bleach plants and other
high chloride process streams. They provide a cost-efficient alternative
to nickel-based alloys and titanium.
BENEFITS of 6% MOLY
* High resistance to pitting, crevice and general corrosion.
* Very high resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
* 50% stronger than 300-series austenitic stainless steels.
* Excellent impact toughness.
* Excellent workability and weldability.
6% MOLY APPLICATIONS
* Pulp mill bleach systems; drums, vats and press rolls.
* Tall oil distillation columns and equipment
* Chemical processing equipment
* Food processing equipment
* Desalination equipment
* Flue gas desulphurization scrubbers
* Oil and gas production equipment
* Tanks and pipelines for various chemicals with high halide levels
